Your data, handled responsibly
Privacy Policy
How SchoolRev handles personal data on its website and platform, and how to exercise applicable privacy rights.
Effective date: 01-09-2026
Controller: Techvilla Technologies Ltd, trading as SchoolRev ("SchoolRev", "we", "us")
Contact: schoolrev@thetechvill.com
1. Purpose and scope
This notice explains how SchoolRev handles personal data when we operate our public website, respond to enquiries, provide the SchoolRev platform, administer subscriptions, and support authorised users. It should be read with our Terms of Service, Cookie Policy and, where applicable, our Data Processing Addendum.
SchoolRev is school-revenue management software. School fees are paid directly to each school’s official account. SchoolRev does not hold school fees as a bank, wallet provider or custodian.
2. Our roles
For our website, sales contacts, SchoolRev accounts, billing, security, platform administration and our own legal obligations, SchoolRev normally acts as a data controller.
For personal data a subscribing school enters or directs us to process in the platform—such as student, guardian, staff, invoice, payment-confirmation and school-record data—the school normally acts as controller and SchoolRev acts as processor on that school’s documented instructions. The signed customer agreement and Data Processing Addendum govern that processing.
3. Personal data we may process
Depending on your relationship with us, this may include:
- identity and contact details, including name, work email, telephone number and school/organisation details;
- account, authentication and role information;
- customer-support communications and service requests;
- subscription, invoice and payment-status information for SchoolRev services (not school-fee custody records);
- device, browser, IP, security-log and session information;
- analytics information only where the applicable consent/setting permits it; and
- data that a subscribing school provides in the platform, which may include student, guardian, staff and payment-confirmation information.
Do not send sensitive personal data to SchoolRev through an unapproved channel. Schools must configure and use the platform only for their legitimate educational and operational purposes.
4. Why we process data and lawful bases
We process personal data only where a valid basis applies, including to perform or prepare a contract, comply with a legal obligation, pursue legitimate interests that are not overridden by your rights, protect vital interests where applicable, or obtain consent where required. We use consent for optional cookies/analytics and other processing where consent is the appropriate basis. You may withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
5. Children’s data
SchoolRev recognises that school records can concern children. A school is responsible for confirming that it has a lawful basis and, where required, valid parental/guardian consent or other legal authority to provide a child’s data to the platform. SchoolRev processes that data only under the school’s documented instructions, applies appropriate safeguards, and does not knowingly use children’s platform data for advertising or unrelated profiling.
6. Sharing, processors and transfers
We may share data with authorised personnel, the relevant subscribing school, carefully selected service providers that support hosting, security, communications, payments, backups or analytics, professional advisers, regulators and law-enforcement bodies where lawfully required, or a successor in a lawful corporate transaction. We require processors to protect data and use it only for authorised purposes.
If personal data is transferred outside Nigeria, we will use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards as required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and NDPC guidance.
7. Retention and security
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes, contractual obligations, security, dispute resolution, audit and legal requirements.
We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encryption where appropriate, audit logging, tenant separation and secure operational processes. No system is completely risk-free; please protect your credentials and report suspected compromise promptly.
8. Your rights and complaints
Subject to applicable law, you may request information about your data, access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and review of certain solely automated decisions. For school-platform data, contact your school first because it controls that data. For SchoolRev-controlled data, email legal@thetechvilla.com with enough detail to verify and process your request.
You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue promptly.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this notice when our processing or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised effective date and provide additional notice where required. Questions or requests: legal@thetechvilla.com.
